SoCreate Screenwriting Software’s Weekly Writing Challenge – Week 17

This week's exercise transports us to a library with characters Alejandra and a mysterious stranger. Alejandra is leisurely browsing her favorite genre of books - fake memoirs - in aisle E of the library, a guilty pleasure of hers. Today, unlike other days, she notices a dark-haired stranger engrossed in a book she just returned.

  • Location: INT – Library – Afternoon

  • Characters: Alejandra; a stranger at the library

  • Scene Description: Alejandra slowly walks aisle E of books at the library; it’s where she finds her favorite genre of books – fake memoirs – a guilty pleasure. Unlike other days, today she sees someone in this aisle – a dark-haired stranger scanning the pages of a book she just returned.

  • Prompt: Alejandra is curious about this stranger whose taste in fake memoirs seems an eerie coincidence. Write a scene where she questions him but also has an internal point-of-view conversation that no one can hear but the audience.

Extra Credit: Change the title of your story rather than using the title automatically generated for you. To do this, simply click the three-dot menu icon in the green title card in the upper left-hand corner of your screen. From there, click 'Edit Story Settings' to type in a title of your own. Here, you can also edit your story's type, add an optional story description, and adjust writing credits.
