As SoCreate Writer grows beyond traditional writing software, we’ve reimagined how stories are started and organized. With powerful new outlining and project-management tools, the dashboard is now transitioning into a project-based system, making it easier to manage, develop, and grow your stories from idea to completion.

Creating a New Project
When you open the dashboard, you’ll notice two primary options: Create Project and Import Project.

Once you have clicked Create Project, you will be presented with a field name your story. Not ready to lock in a title? You can leave it blank and rename it later when the right idea comes along.

Beneath the title field is an Advanced Settings option. Expanding this section lets you include extra information such as:
● A brief story synopsis
● The originator of the idea
● The creator of the project

On the right side, you’ll choose your project format:
● Storyteller Story
● Movie Script
● TV Script
This choice is flexible; you can easily update the project type at any point in the future as your story evolves.
Understanding Project Types
Each project type has a structure tailored to how that story is told:
Storyteller Stories use chapters instead of scenes and support flexible story structures, including chapters, sections, acts, and stories.
Movie and TV Scripts are scene-based, allowing you to add sequences, acts, episodes, and seasons as needed.
To switch your project type, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the story card and select Edit Story Details.
At the top, you’ll be able to choose between the three-story types.
All project templates can be published to the SoCreate Storyteller platform, giving you full flexibility regardless of how your project begins.
Importing an Existing Project
To import an existing story, click “Import Project” on the dashboard. A dropdown will appear with the same three project options:
● Storyteller Story
● Movie Script
● TV Script
Currently, SoCreate supports imports from Final Draft (.fdx) files. With the new project framework now in place, we plan to expand import options in the coming year to support additional file formats and story types.
