SoCreate Celebrates 2018 and Preps for Year Ahead

2018 was a big, busy year at the SoCreate office. Our engineers constructed new features and worked out cloud-based bugs that will put the SoCreate ScreenwritingSoftware on a fast track for build-out in 2019. And, we hired two new positions outside of our engineering team, including our new Vice President of Business Development Amy Pruett, and our new Director of Community Outreach Courtney Meznarich. We’re really ramping up! As a startup, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and success is so close we can taste it. We truly can’t wait to share our revolutionary new screenwriting software with you.

To celebrate our team’s hard work and let our hair down, CEO Justin Couto and CFO Rosa Couto treated the entire staff to an End of Year Celebration at the Point San Luis Lighthouse in Avila Beach in early December. What a unique venue! The lighthouse, maintained solely by volunteers, has served as a beacon over San Luis Bay since 1890. Its remote location means it’s only accessible by trolley or by foot. We opted for the trolley, of course!

Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers docents led the staff on a sunset tour of the lighthouse, including an up-close look at the historic restored light. Later, we all jumped at the chance to win at an annual tradition: movie trivia! Our team has clearly been doing their research – we had a three-way tie this year. And to make sure the staff keeps up on that research, Justin and Rosa surprised everyone with their own Sonos speakers, soundbars, and an Amazon Fire Cubes. Their generous gift will keep on giving as we brush up on our screenwriting knowledge with movies and TV shows all year long.

Special thanks to The Prancing Chef and his catering team, the Point San Luis Lighthouse Keepers, our party photographer Ashley Blake, the entire SoCreate staff and Justin and Rosa Couto for another incredible year of creating. 2019, we’re ready for you!
