It is with a heavy heart that I bid you farewell, readers! It has been an amazing ride, but I am sad to report that my time at SoCreate is coming to a close. It has been a true pleasure writing for you!
When I reflect back on my last year at SoCreate, I have nothing but positive memories. I cannot express how grateful I am for this wonderful community of writers that I’ve come to know so well and for all of the amazing learning opportunities I’ve been presented with during my time here.
Working at SoCreate…where do I start? What an amazing experience! I came into this position just over a year out of college--still very fresh to the working world. While I had some great work experiences under my belt, few of them related directly to the Community Outreach field. It’s safe to say I was a bit nervous to take on the role of Director in an area that was ripe for development at SoCreate. However, Justin hired me with confidence, so I needed to have confidence in myself!
Within the first few months of working here, I had already learned and experienced SO much. I had planned a full team trip, greatly developed my communications and strategy skills, and started building a strong, determined community of writers that love SoCreate.
My decision to leave my position here was definitely one of the toughest ones I’ve ever had to make, and I am so thankful for all of the accommodations that Justin and the rest of the team provided to make this the easiest it can be. It is extremely hard to leave a place you love coming to every day. The team here is so hardworking and determined to make things the best they can be, and that is totally inspiring. Every day, you come into the office knowing that something you do today can make all the difference in getting our platform launched successfully. On top of being hardworking, everyone is so welcoming. SoCreate is a family! While I am leaving for an opportunity to be closer to my own family, I will always miss my San Luis Obispo, SoCreate family.
Bittersweet is really the only word there is to describe it. It’s hard to say goodbye, but I sign off knowing that our writing community is in good hands with the team here! I look forward to watching SoCreate grow and can only hope that I have the opportunity to work with them all someday again.
